The moon was full as shadows shifted in the pale light. A chuckle rang out as a billowing fire roared; a girl, around 17, could be seen, pacing in front of the fire. Several other people sat along with her, some old and some young. It was clear that this girl was the leader... something peculiar about all of them were that they had fox ears and fox tails; yes, they were shapeshifters. They all were the Elusive pack of thieves, deadly as the knives they always clenched for support. At the moment, the leader, Ahri, was twirling in front of the fire. She grinned, fox fangs sparking as the flames flickered violently.
"Ah, what a glorious night this has been. We've stolen several gems, yes, I am proud." Ahri exclaimed. The reaction from the pack was instant; growls of approval rang out as they twitched their ears in approval. Ahri nodded and flicked her tail. "Now we celebrate!" she roared, getting another roar of approval. The radio came on, playing a few very interesting songs; one of which was called ,"This ain't a scene, it's an arms race" by Fall out Boy. That song was one of Ahri's all time favorites. She began to sing along in a smooth, dark voice that seemed to send shivers down the spines of all in the pack.
"The lies I weave are oh so intricate! Oh so intricate! I'm the leading gal!" she sang, twirling in front of the fire in almost a medieval trance. The whole pack soon was moving to the song and singing along in unison. The party went on like that for a while, with songs like "Liar Liar(The Used)" and "You're gonna go Far kid". Soon, all settled down, most sleeping as the fire died down.
Ahri, however, was far from tired. She darted through the forest, leaping from tree to tree to practice agility. Her ears flat as the wind blew against them, she sighed and smiled at this absolute perfect night.

Vladimir was in a deep sleep on this perfect night. He was abruptly awoken by sounds of loud music. He could hear the bass and the bumping of the music in his bed. This really angered Vlad, he finally couldn't take it anymore. Almost every night has been like this, but tonight it was all going to change. "This is unbelievable, I can not take this any longer. Tonight is the night" he said with eyes glowing red. Vlad grabbed his coat and darted out of his home and in an instant was in the darkwoods. It was dark outside, and he could see the glimmer of the dimmed out bonfire the shapeshifters had. Vlad knew that attacking the sleeping tribe would be too dangerous, so he came up with a plan to sneakily kidnap one of their young. He let out a soft but evil laugh and the skies turned red. Vlad decided he would take the most valuable thing to Ahri, he decided to take Vanessa. And just like that, she was gone, and so was Vlad. At the camp, Vlad left a note for Ahri. The note said, "I have taken Vanessa, you don't know who I am, but I certainly know who you are and what you've done. I will tell you, however, where you can find her, you will find Vanessa in the deepest of tunnels in the heaviest of security of Bloodfire. My name is Vladimir, that's all you need to know about me. Because that's the last thing you'll ever know."

Ahri looked up, realizing the sky had turned a bright bloody red. This indicated a huge problem back at camp-- she urgently turned and darted back to the dimming bonfire and gasped in realization. Her little sister, the white fox--was gone! She roared in outrage, waking up the entire camp. Her amber eyes caught site of a note that had been left where Vanessa had been. She bent down and grabbed it, reading it closely gritting her teeth in anger.
"We need to save her. I've no idea who this is, but I'm pretty sure he's a vampire. Vanessa must be saved at all costs; we need to move NOW!" she shouted. Ahri turned and bolted through the forest and out toward Bloodfire, with her pack close behind. Soon they had entered the city, but remained to the shadows as to not be detected. Ahri led them on, in a search for the said tunnel. White fire swirled around her as she entered the beginning of the maze. It was there where she encountered the first guard.
Ahri darted forward, knife in hand, and sliced his arm. In retaliation, the guard grabbed her arm and slammed her into the wall. Ahri was fast; she turned and stabbed him squarde in the back, through the left side while turning the knife and pulling out his heart. Then, white fire basically vaporized his body into ash. Her pack behind watched in terror at her complete violence, almost shaking at the fury of their leader. They were there to back her up really, not to do the gruesome killing she was pulling off.
Several more guards fell to Ahri's knife before she was able to navigate the maze. She came a dead end and turned, amber eyes glowing like fire as she eyed her tribe. "Where is she...?" she whispered as an eerie silence fell on the pack.

This was all a trap for Ahri, Vanessa had never really been taken to the tunnels. Vlad intentionally led Ahri and her tribe to this maze, where they would stare death in the face. Once Ahri's pack completed the maze, Vlad and an army of deadly vampires surrounded the pack. The vampires darted with speed faster than the shapeshifters could have ever imagined. In a split second, 2 of the shapeshifters were dead. Blood in the vampires teeth, they were thirsty for more. Vlad stood in the back and glared at Ahri, and Ahri was doing the same. Vlad was holding Vanessa by her tails and he could tell that this infuriated Ahri, which is exactly what he wanted. He wanted her to feel the pain she caused unto him. The vampires and shapeshifters were in an all out battle. Many shapeshifters died, as did vampires as well. After a while Vlad yelled "Fall back, I think they've had enough for now". In Vlad's mind, he was screaming at himself for this action. Why would he let the perfect opportunity in ending this burden go to waste? The vampire didn't like this new feeling. For some reason, he felt like it wasn't all Ahri's fault. Was he feeling pity? For the first time in so long, and for somebody he truly hated. Why was this happening?

Ahri whriled upon hearing the screams of her pack. She was just in time to see two of her pack members fall victim to the vampires. She cried out their names but it was too late. Realizing this was all a trap, her eyes fell on Vladmimir, who was holding Vanessa by the tail. She snarled and fingers curled like claws; however, the fighting vampires and shifters blocked her from being able to attack.
Vanessa meanwhile shrieked in fear as blood from her falling pack members splattered on her fur and stained the fine white hair red. She reached out to Ahri, who stared at her sister with deep sadness. For some reason, Arhi felt this was all her fault. She'd led her pack to its death and her sister was probably going to be killed... but for what and why?
A tear fell down her cheek but the look of fury never left. As the vampire withdrew, she took a step forward. "Enough. If it's me you want, leave my sister and pack--I'll give myself up if you no longer harm them."

Vlad paced back and forth in his bedroom with Vanessa tied up in the corner. He kept on thinking and thinking about that incident in the tunnels. Vlad decided to come to a conclusion, it wasn't Vlad, it was Vanessa. She is the reason he felt pity. Maybe he saw a little bit of himself in Vanessa, and maybe that's why he didn't want to cause her any harm. Vanessa never wanted to harm anybody, so why would Vlad harm them for no reason? That is what Vlad was thinking at the time at least. "This doesn't make any sense, how could somebody like her drive me away from my goal. It has to be Vanessa, it just can't be anything else. I have no reason to feel pity for that beast" he growled. Vlad decided to do something he wasn't planning on doing. He decided to kill Vanessa. Vlad didn't want anything in his way of capturing Ahri. Just as Vlad was about to suck the blood from Vanessa, he felt a sharp pain in his stomach. At that moment he couldn't stop thinking of Ahri and how she was his target, not Vanessa. But was she more than just a target to Vlad? Did the tear in her bright amber eyes catch Vlad's attention? Vlad screamed at the top of his lungs so the whole town could hear it, and just like that returned Vanessa to the camp in an instant.

Vanessa winced as Vlad came closer. She always had tried to be like her big sister, braver than most, yet fear never ever escaped her. It was obvious she was weaker, unable to handle something like this. She whimpered and closed her eyes, blatantly surprised when suddenly she heard a roar of outrage. Not opening her eyes, she felt the cool midnight air against her face suddenly. She was tense and cracked one eye to see the remains of her camp... with a squeak of surprise, she realized she was home; she sprang forward into a run, looking for anywhere to hide from Vlad in case he decided to change his mind.
Meanwhile, Ahri led the remaining pack members out of the pipes. They stuck to the shadows like planned, but everyone was so... sullen. Many members hung their heads for victims that had fallen to the vampires. Ahri felt a pang of guilt and sorrow, but the overwhelming feeling was clear... hatred, anger. Why had that vampire who called himself Vlad done such a thing? Had Ahri stolen from him, a gem perhaps? Vampires were known to overreact... but the slaughter of many pack members and the capture of her sister was going too far. No, this was not to be forgiven. This was a declaration of war... the fox shifter finally arrived with the others home. She perked her ears at the scent of her sister, amber eyes flashing.
"Ahri!" came Vanessa's voice as she darted to her sister, burying her head into her arms. Ahri hugged Vanessa tightly, relief almost making her faint.
"My sister... oh why did you have to see such horrors? I promise, PROMISE to protect you... that will not happen again." she whispered. The other members nodded, and like that, they were all...gone. No more parties. No more signs of the shifters in the Darkwoods anywhere. They had melted into the shadows, only to come out to ambush those fool enough to wander into their realm. And from the shadows came the dark flames of war...
The cave where they lived was hidden; it always had been. Always heavily guarded, no shifter was to leave anymore. Ahri made that clear; no one, without her permission, could leave the safety of home. She intended on keeping everyone safe. Vanessa was in the far back, recovering from what she'd been through. She shivered with a blanket around her, hanging out on her bed whilst staring off into the distance. Members gathered around her and soothingly talked to her, trying to reassure her.
The leader of the pack of thieves was to find out information...alone. She was under no circumstance planning on losing anyone else. She traveled to Bloodfire city and stuck to the alleyways, with only her knife to support her. Her amber eyes glowed like a demon's on the hunt... she would find him, and kill him. As she watched vampires pass by without even noticing her, Ahri chuckled lowly. She'd find him, one way or another. He couldn't hide forever, and once she caught his scent, he'd be done for.

Pacing back and fourth, Vlad could not get this out if his mind. He looked out of the window into the blood stained sky of Bloodfire and was thinking of his next move. Was he going to continue to pursue Ahri or was he going to let this all go? "That's it! I can't do this anymore. Im going to have to wipe our her pack, tonight is finally the....." Vlad was interrupted by the sound of footsteps in the distance. It didn't sound like feet of any normal vampire, but claws on pavement. He knew it was a Shapeshifter. Vlad turned into a pool, moaning from the pain, and surrounding Ahri in an alley. "So we finally meet, one on one" he said with his voice echoing from all directions. He took this opportunity to take a bite from the Shapeshifters neck, and then felt that urge to stop again. This time he wouldn't though, or that was his mindset at the time. He couldn't fight the urge, he let go of Ahri and the fox dashed into the distance leaving a trail of blood. Vlad followed it and found the fox laying in a corner, badly weakened. "We need to talk..." Said Vlad in a very annoyed voice.

Ahri stared up at him, glaring quite angrily. White fire began to swirl around her dangerously and build... she might have been weakened physically, but her arcane energy was strong. " Talk, huh? It seems like alls you wanna do is attack and kill. Well now. It's my turn." she muttered. She shifted suddenly into a terrifying black fox. With a loud snarl, she leapt forward--and vanished right in front of Vlad. Suddenly, white fire swirled and shot at him from behind, probably leaving a very painful burn. Ahri was on fire--literally. The white flames danced on her black fur like she was some kind of hellhound from a nightmare. " You wanna bite me, hon? I'll go right ahead and bite back!" she roared. She then vanished and appeared in front of him, slamming him to the ground and pinning him down. She leaned down and bit into his neck, drawing the life force not in the form of blood, but in the form of pure fear, anger, hatred, and regret. This would indeed weaken him like he had weakened her... Ahri leapt off of him, panting. She shifted to human form and darted off into the shadows to recover for just a second. She needed to rest, this had used a lot of her power. Hopefully Vladimir was stunned enough not to pursue. She lay on the hard ground, ears flat as she shook in fury.

Vladimir laid there on the ground, back badly burned and stunned from what he had just seen. "W..what the h..hell was that?" Vlad said shakily. The vampire stood up and recovered for a while then darted into the woods in search for the fox. During the search, he was trying to figure out what he was going to say to her. To Vlad it was going to be impossible to explain. After a while of searching, Vlad just gave up. He couldn't find her and what was he going to say anyway? All he wanted to do now was not get revenge, but come to an understanding. If he had to, he would use force. "Wait, what am I thinking? Why am I doing this? I'm supposed to be evil! But then again, if we could all live together as one then nobody would get hurt ever again.. I dont know what to do!" He said very frustrated. His emotions as a child and as an adult were stirring around, ones where he wants nothing but peace, and ones where he wants nothing but revenge. Vlad was very confused, so he just gave up and went to bed, at least he tried to. From the fight and the emotions, who could possibly sleep?

Ahri managed to get up and dart back to the Darkwoods. She didn't make it to her cave; drained of energy, she passed out in a dark clearing. A pack member was scouting when he spotted her. With a gasp, he shifted to a fox and grabbed her tail in his mouth to drag her home. The cave was shrouded in shadows; whoever tried to enter would immediately be greeted by a series of claws and bites from the fox shifters. They saw you before you even sensed them at all!
Ahri awoke in her bed with a shriek. "Where is he?! Where am I?!" she yelled. Vanessa walked up to the side of her bed, appearing somewhat... cold.
"Relax, sister." she said in a smooth voice. "You went off to find the guy who tried to kill me, remember? I think you managed to do something to him--you came back alive but passed out!" she exclaimed. Her icy demeanor faded for a moment as she looked at her older sister with concern. She hugged her tightly, and Ahri hugged back. "I... don't want to be alone Ahri. I don't want to turn to ice..." she whispered.
Ahri raised her eyebrows. "What makes you say that Vanessa?" she asked quietly. Vanessa just sighed and shook her head before turning and darting to her bed. The sun was rising--all nocturnal creatures were going off to sleep.
---Timeskip to the next night---
Ahri awoke with a frown. She did not plan on finding Vlad tonight; no, there was no point. "I am going to scout tonight. Everyone else... stay here!" she shouted. The pack nodded, watching her with somewhat worry. She was insane at times, always wanting to be alone. Ahri turned to leave when her arm was grabbed by a cold hand. Vanessa stared up at her.
"Come home alive sister..." she whispered. Ahri's frown softened for a moment. She gave a short nod.
"I will." she promised. With that she turned away and vanished into the night, appearing in a dark tree overlooking the edge of her territory. "Don't you dare come here, vampire... You'll be destroyed." she growled into the night.

Vlad slept for what seemed like days to him, he had so much on his mind. After a while, his eyes widened and sat up in his bed "I know what I have to do" he said excitedly. Vlad thought up of a plan, he would have to risk his life, but this is the only way possible. He had to turn himself over to the Shapeshifters. He knew he would be sent straight to the cells and possibly tortured for information, but he would not give any unless he was able to speak with the pack leader, Ahri. Vlad was nervous, but this is the only thing he could do. He darted into the Darkwoods and sat in the middle of a clearing in await of his capture. "I'M HERE! COME AND GET ME!" Vlad shouted repeatedly. He knew that they could see him, maybe they were holding off because they thought it was some kind of trap. "I come alone, nobody from the town knows my whereabouts. I want a peaceful discussion" He said nervously. All Vlad could do now is wait.

The shadows shifted; his shouting not only had alerted Ahri, but the pack as well. Sharp barks rang out into the night, so quick that one had to pay close attention to know exactly what the sound could be. They meant something, they meant everything; the pack of thieves was gathering.
"I sense no others! He is alone!" came Ahri's bark.
"Excellent; surround him!" came the bark of the beta, or second in command. Ahri's confirming bark rang out, and soon amber eyes glowed in the shadows surrounding Vlad.
A flash of white, and suddenly a ton of large foxes, all the size of dire wolves, circled him, heads lowered aggressively. Vanessa, the white fox, was among them, a look of hate clear on her face. Her amber eyes never left him. The pack parted as a female shifter, the only one in human form, emerged from the shadows. It was Ahri, and she looked grim.
"Vladimir.... are you insane? Coming to our land after that ambush, expecting us to speak?" she growled. A sly smile played on her lips as she circled him like a fox circling an injured rabbit. Her tail flicked back and fourth dangerously.
She stopped in front of him; she indeed was a lot smaller, being short and slim (a little too short, some would say -.-" ). However, at the moment she was a lot more intimidating...and she knew it!
Her amber eyes glowed in relish in the fact that maybe she could get him as afraid of her as he had made her the night before. Of course, she planned not on killing him. There was no point in that. No, she was reasonable; despite her violent and aggressive tendencies, she was capable of seeing peace.
"Well. If it's talk you want, then do so. I won't order an attack on you, because unlike you I'm no going to flaunt the power I have right now in numbers. If we ned to fight, then we can do so one on one. But as I understand, you wish to speak. Fine then. I'll listen." she finished, emotions unreadable as she stared into his eyes with her own firey amber gaze.

Vlad stared at the pack circling him with their teeth bared, without Ahri, Vlad would be dead. "I know that you're probably not going to let me go after this, and I've already accepted that. I will admit that there is nothing more I want than to sink my teeth into your neck. But let me explain why I don't want to at the same time. A long time ago, the Vampires and Shapeshifters were in a war, as you may already know. During that war, the king of Bloodfire, my father, was killed by one of yours. Not just a regular pack member, but the leader of your back, the old leader. Yes, your father. My parents and my little brother were brutally murdered by him, my dad didn't leave without a fight though. He took swept behind your father and sucked the life right out of him before being stabbed. I made it out alive and was raised in an orphanage, where they taught me that we should live in peace. I never remembered my past so I went along with it. So yes, for what your pack did to my family is unforgivable, which is why I wanted revenge. I still do want revenge, if I could I'd have this whole god damn forest burned to ash and watch you and your pack suffer in flames. The reason why I think we shouldn't be in a war, and why I returned Vanessa, was because it wasn't your actions that made me want revenge, it was your fathers. I think I'm starting to push stronger towards getting the revenge I want, no, I need. So I will take you up on that offer, fox. We will fight it out in a one vs one. Maybe then we can have some kind of closure. May it be an understanding or death, I don't really care. As you can tell from our previous fights, my emotions have been really stirred lately. I'm sick of it, and tonight it ends.". Vlad said what he needed to say. Now what happens next he thought?

At the mention of her name, Vanessa lost control... the white fox launched toward Vlad, leaping at him with all the fury in hell. "You're dead, leech!" she roared. Another flash of white, and a horifying but elegant black fox was pinning down a smaller white one. Ahri had stopped Vanessa, and was leaning over her with jaws bared.
"It is understood that you make no move without my orders!" Ahri snarled. Vanessa glared for a moment before submitting. Ahri got off, glaring at her sister as the white fox stood up, and with a last glare at Vlad, vanished into the whirl of other foxes.
After a pause, Ahri turned, shifting back to human form. She circled Vlad again, amber eyes unreadable. "I see. So our parents slaughtered each other. You decided it was your duty to slaughter me as well, huh?" she whispered in a cold voice. She stopped in front of him, very close now. Her firey eyes flashed in fury once more. "That's fine... you killed members of my pack, and now I owe it to them to fight for my life as well as theirs. Redeem yourself vampire. Kill your enemy, come on. If you can't, then you're a disgrace, hmm?" she said softly. The pack stopped, and a hushed silence fell over the clearing.
"One on one, the battle will comence. Winner takes life, or blood, of the other. Whether that be capture or kill, I don't really care. Thief pack members!" she growled, turning to the others. "You cannot interfere--even if I lose. The victor leaves alive." she commanded. Reluctant agreeing barks rang out, and suddenly the pack was...gone. Vanished into the shadows.
Ahri turned, ears flicking. "Alright vampire. Let the games begin." she chuckled, vanishing into the shadows. She appeared behind him, fire swirling around her in an inferno of arcane enegy. It shot out at him in bursts. Now, the odds were even--both at full power, this was the final countdown.
